KOBUDO. Weapon Arts

The KODENKAN of Phoenix dojo policy regarding all weapon related arts is that typically, Kobudo arts are not taught to any student who has not obtained some mastery of their empty hand techniques, as martial art weapons  are merely an extension of the "Empty Hand" techniques.  Students are required to focus on their Shorin Ryu, Karate kihon dosa (basic techniques) first, then when deemed worthy are taught the kobudo arts.

Weapons include, but not limited to the following:

Nunchuku, Sai, Bo, Jo, Kama, Escrima Sticks, Knives and related edged weapons, Bokken, Shinai and Katana.

Instruction in the above weapons is at the discretion of the Kodenkan of Phoenix instructors, and is not generally available for anyone who walks in off the street.
