SHORIN RYU, karate DANZAN RYU, jujitsu Kobudo arts, weapons Reiki, healing arts Biography of Glenn Medici 1945- Medici, Sensei was actively engaged in competition events, such as boxing and wrestling before being first introduced to the martial arts in boot camp in the military in 1965. His first formal martial arts instructor was Kirk Jaeger, Sensei in Shorin Ryu Karate at the Scottsdale High School Karate Kai, later named the Tri City Karate Kai in the mid 1970's. He went on to become the first karate black belt under Jaeger, Sensei's lineage through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai. He received his karate Shodan, first degree black belt rank in January 1983 from the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson Arizona. In January 1985 he was awarded the rank of karate Nidan, second degree black belt and the title of Sensei through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson, Arizona. He was given direction by Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck to start his own dojo as a way to repay his indebtedness to his teachers in the traditional ways of the martial arts. In January 1986 he started his first martial arts dojo called the Chandler Budo Kai and operating under the guidelines of the Kodenkan Yudanshakai. In September 1988 he was awarded the rank of Sandan, third degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson, Arizona. In August 1989 assisted with the creation of Montana Kodenkan in Potomac, Montana with Jay Selby, Sensei. He made numerous trips thereafter to Montana to assist Selby, Sensei to augment their karate only program. The dojo name later changed to Kodenkan of Montana and ultimately closed it's doors when Selby Sensei moved out of state. In October 1992 he created his second Kodenkan Yudanshakai dojo called the Kodenkan of Phoenix which was located at the World Gym in the Bell Canyon Pavilions Shopping Center located at 29th. avenue and Bell Road, Phoenix, Arizona. The dojo later moved to it's present location after the closure of the World Gym. In January of 1993 he was awarded the rank of karate Yodan, fourth degree black belt through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson, Arizona. He was also awarded the same rank through the AJI, American Jujitsu Institute, Honolulu, Hawaii. July 1994 he served as the events chairman for the 1994 AAU NATIONAL Jujitsu Championships held in Phoenix, Arizona. Kodenkan of Phoenix dojo (team-Phoenix) went on to win the Second Place Randori Team Trophy with (3) gold medal winners, and (3) national randori champions. Also in 1994 he received the AAU Professor Reginnetter AAU Jijitsu Service Award for outstanding services to the jujitsu program on a national level. In September 1995, he was awarded the rank of Shodan, first degree black belt in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu through his instructor Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck of the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson, Arizona. He also has been awarded significant rank in several kobudo related weapon arts as well as been awarded the rank and credentials of a Reiki Healing Master in October 1995. The Reiki healing art became a major component in his life at this time and integrated into the healing arts associated with Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. In September 1997 he was awarded the rank of Nidan, second degree black belt and title of Sensei in Danzan Ryu by his instructor Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson Arizona. In the summer of 1998 he created the Kodenkan of Montana dojo in Kalispell, Montana under the guidelines of the Kodenkan Yudanshakai. This was after the Montana Kodenkan, Potomac dojo had officially closed it's doors when Selby Sensei moved out of state. Kodenkan of Montana now became both a karate and jujitsu dojo for the first time. In May 1999 he was awarded the rank of karate Godan, fifth degree black belt in Shorin Ryu karate from the karate division of the American Jujitsu Institute through Professor Charles Lee, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was also awarded at this time the rank of jujitsu Sandan, in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu from the American Jujitsu Institute through Professor Francisco Limbago, Honolulu, Hawaii. In May 2004 he was awarded the rank of karate Rokudan, sixth degree black belt in Shorin Ryu karate from the karate division of the American Jujitsu Institute through Professor Charles Lee, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was also awarded at this time the rank of jujitsu Yondan, 4th degree black belt in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu from the American Jujitsu Institute through Professor Sam Luke Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii. In July 2004 he was awarded the rank of Godan, fifth degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson, Arizona and the title of O-Sensei. He was also awarded the rank of Sandan, third degree black belt at the same time in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu by his instructor Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson Arizona. July 7, 2007 O-Sensei Medici was awarded the rank of Yondan, fourth degree Black belt in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu by his instructor Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai in Tucson Arizona at the 40th anniversary of the Kodenkan Yudanshakai celebration.
