         REIKI Structure and Process

The First Time Reiki Healing Experience

Reiki can be experienced on several levels, the first being the recipient of a certified Reiki healer's energy.  When a person comes for a Reiki healing, he or she may not know anything about what Reiki is, and does.  What they may have heard about it is that it is stress relieving and a feeling of total mental and physical relaxation.

Sometimes a person with a chronic illness may come for a Reiki treatment.  Their expressed reason for coming to the Reiki healer is to be treated immediately.  That is fine, except that it is important for the person to know that they might have to do some life altering work for themselves.  Reiki works only if the person desires to be healed and is willing to raise their consciousness to remain well.

There are several theories about the number of Reiki treatments required to heal various physical problems.  One theory is that twenty-one consecutive treatments are needed for chronic physical problems.  Another theory, groups various types of diseases and assigns the number of treatments.  It is generally felt that each body will know when it is well.  Treatments must be done on a daily basis if a chronic illness is to be cured.  Also, if the body has manifested a disease, there must an imbalance somewhere and will need to be addressed.

There is also long-distance healing with Reiki, meaning the person does not have to be present in order to be healed.  The Reiki healer is merely a "channel."  He or she is not the one actually doing the healing.  The Reiki healer is merely a facilitator to the healing process.

About CHAKRAS in general

Chakra is a Sanskrit term meaning "wheel of life".  A chakra is a wheel of light revolving in and through our energy system.  All of these wheels are perpetually rotating.  There are major chakras which manage our most critical functions and issues, and minor chakras, which regulate the less fundamental needs of our bodies.  To create its results, Reiki energy is directed to the appropriate chakras in the healing process.

How Reiki Works

Unlike a massage, one does have to take off their clothing to benefit from the healing process of Reiki.  In fact, a typical session consists of the Reiki healer's strategic placement of hands either on, or above the person's body.  This channels universal energy through the Reiki healer's body into the problem area of the person being treated.  The universal life force energy knows what the problem is and goes directly where it needs to.  This energy serves as a means of cleansing the body of unhealthy toxins, reducing stress, loosening blocked energy, accelerating the body's natural healing abilities, and relieving pain.  It accomplishes all of these results through its calming effect on the emotions and mind of the person being treated.

The process for obtaining your own Reiki healing credentials:  To learn the degrees of Reiki and receive respective initiations, you would need to seek out a qualified Reiki Master.  Qualified Reiki Masters are available at the Kodenkan of Phoenix.  These Reiki Masters will assist you in learning about Reiki, and provide you with initiations, which serve to open you to the healing energy skills.

REIKI DEGREE System

All three degrees of Reiki enhance and promote expanded consciousness and spiritual awareness and strength:

FIRST DEGREE REIKI credentials:  This is the basic course.  It includes four energy activations and complete training in scientifically applying this energy to one's ENTIRE being -- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.   One is taught how to give treatments to others.  Instruction includes the 12 Reiki healing positions,  positive wellness, balancing energy, achieving wholeness and treating specific disorders with Reiki .

SECOND DEGREE REIKI credentials:  Second Degree Reiki is available to those who have received First Degree Reiki certification.  Second Degree Reiki includes another level of energy-power activation and a series of power symbols.  It teaches how to direct energy on dimensions other than physical.  One is taught effective treatment of deeply-rooted emotional and mental disorders, plus a technique for precise, effective absentee/long-distance healing.  Second Degree Reiki includes techniques for your own personal growth and transformation.

REIKI MASTER credentials:  This is Third Degree Reiki and is available to those who have received First & Second Degree Reiki certification.  It is restricted to a very few practitioners; it can be taken whether or not one is interested in teaching Reiki to others.  Third Degree Reiki includes special energy activation which goes beyond First and Second Degree levels.  It includes advanced techniques for activation of energy, balancing energy, for healing, for personal growth and transformation and, ultimately, for enlightenment.  Third Degree Reiki also provides complete training to teach Reiki seminars to others.

The system in Reiki, with its hierarchy and degrees of learning, makes the knowledge exclusive and restricted.  The established cost for the information and opening-attunement of the Reiki degrees is as follows:

  • First degree Reiki healer is $150.00;

  • Second Degree Reiki healer is $500.00; and

  • Third Degree or Reiki Master is $2,000.00.

It takes many hours to learn all of the information relevant to each Reiki degree.  Usually this is spread out over 2 afternoons or evenings, for First and Second Degrees, and over several days for Third Degree/Reiki Master.

KODENKAN of Phoenix has two certified Reiki Masters, Dr. Marlene Shiple Medici, and Sensei Glenn Medici.
